Just 2 kilometers from the Château de Fère, Fère-en-Tardenois is the birthplace of Camille and Paul Claudel. Its church, market halls, and chapel are listed as historical monuments.
2. Etang Fère En Tardenois
Etang Fère-en-Tardenois is a tranquil pond located near the historic Château de Fère-en-Tardenois. Surrounded by serene landscapes and lush greenery, it is a favorite spot for nature lovers and those seeking peaceful retreats. Visitors often enjoy the quiet ambiance, ideal for leisurely walks, recharging yourself, birdwatching, or fishing. 3. American Cemetery of Seringes-et-Nesles
Located just 5 minutes by car from the Château de Fère, this cemetery spans nearly 37 acres and houses the graves of 6,012 soldiers who fell during World War I.
4. Château de Nesles
Just 5 minutes by car from the Château de Fère, this former fortress dates back to the 13th century and was built by Robert III de Dreux. Its ruins are classified as historical monuments and stand in the municipality of Seringes-et-Nesles.
5. Maison de Camille et Paul Claudel
The Maison de Camille et Paul Claudel is a museum dedicated to the life and work of the sculptor Camille Claudel and the writer Paul Claudel, brother and sister. The house belonged to their mother and was passed down to them by inheritance. After being sold in 1870, it became a presbytery again until 1960. The house was restored and turned into a museum in 2018.
The museum features exhibitions on the lives and works of Camille and Paul Claudel. There are rooms dedicated to Camille's sculptures and writings, as well as a room devoted to Paul's theater. The museum also has a room that focuses on the relationship between the brother and sister.
6. La Hottée du Diable
Just a few minutes' drive from the Château, this place, steeped in the history of Camille and Paul Claudel's childhood, features a chaotic assembly of rocks with tortured shapes, ideal for a country walk.

7. Les Fantômes de Landowski
The Ghosts of Landowski: Less than 20 minutes by car from the Château de Fère, this monumental sculpture commemorates the Second Battle of the Marne and stands atop the Chalmont hill near Oulchy-le-Château.

10. The Champagne Vineyards

This wine-producing region is renowned worldwide, with vineyards spread across consistent areas such as the Marne Valley between Château-Thierry and Epernay, the Montagne de Reims, and the Côte des Blancs. The Champagne Tourist Route, which includes hillsides listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stretches between Epernay and the surroundings of Reims. 11. Château de Condé
30 minutes from the Château de Fère, on the Champagne Route, this Renaissance-style castle was decorated on royal request by talented artists of the time, including LaFaye, Lancret, and Bonaventure de Bar, among others.

Less than 25 kilometers from the Château de Fère, Château-Thierry, a former fortified town and the birthplace of Jean de la Fontaine, offers a rich history to explore. Just 45 minutes by car from the château, the city of Reims is a must-visit stop on your tour of the region. The iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral of Reims was the site of the coronations of the kings of France, including that of Charles VII with Joan of Arc in 1429.
