Maison de Camille et Paul Claudel
The Maison de Camille et Paul Claudel is a museum dedicated to the life and work of the sculptor Camille Claudel and the writer Paul Claudel, brother and sister. The house belonged to their mother and was passed down to them by inheritance. After being sold in 1870, it became a presbytery again until 1960. The house was restored and turned into a museum in 2018.
The museum features exhibitions on the lives and works of Camille and Paul Claudel. There are rooms dedicated to Camille's sculptures and writings, as well as a room devoted to Paul's theater. The museum also has a room that focuses on the relationship between the brother and sister.
The Champagne Vineyards
While exploring the Château de Fère and its surroundings, don't miss the opportunity to taste the famous Champagne. This wine-producing region is renowned worldwide, with vineyards spread across consistent areas such as the Marne Valley between Château-Thierry and Epernay, the Montagne de Reims, and the Côte des Blancs. The Champagne Tourist Route, which includes hillsides listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stretches between Epernay and the surroundings of Reims. Château Thierry

Reims, City of Kings and Capital of Champagne
Just 45 minutes by car from the château, the city of Reims is a must-visit stop on your tour of the region. Discover its historic monuments, lively squares, and impressive underground cellars stretching over 250 kilometers. The iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral of Reims was the site of the coronations of the kings of France, including that of Charles VII with Joan of Arc in 1429. The Archbishop's Palace of Tau houses the Museum of the Work, where you can admire treasures from the cathedral. The Place Drouet d’Erlon is the vibrant heart of the city, offering shopping opportunities, numerous terraces, and restaurants.
Soissons, City of the Vase and Clovis
Less than 30 kilometers from the Château de Fère, Soissons is a city rich in history. It was the first capital of the kingdom of the Franks, founded by Clovis, and the birthplace of Charlemagne. With more than eight major churches and abbeys, including the Basilica-Cathedral of Saint-Gervais-and-Saint-Protais, it is designated a City of Art and History. Soissons is also famous for its Vase, a central legend in the history of the Franks.
Laon
One hour by car from the Château de Fère, Laon is a fortified city and the capital of Aisne. It's rich in history, with medieval houses, private mansions, and monuments located within its ramparts. You can also visit its cathedral, one of the earliest major examples of Gothic style, built in 1155.
